To decide the size required for a photo to use on a sign etc, you need to know what resolution (Dots Per Inch or DPI) is going to be used - maybe 180dpi or 240dpi or 300dpi, and how large in inches the image will be.

So if the DPI is 240dpi, and the photo is 8x12 inches, then the image needs to be :
- 240dpi x12 = 2880wide (longest side for purchased image is 3000px)
- 240dpi x8 = 1920high

Billboards may only be 40dpi, so the longest side at 120inches = 4800dpi - which would be a 5000px image.
